At the annual World Golf Awards, Portugal  ran with the title as the world’s best golfing destination. World Golf Awards was created to celebrate the best destinations, courses and hotels in golf tourism, and in the category “World’s Best Golf Destination”, Portugal was competing against seven other countries – including Argentina, Australia and Dominican Republic.

The award at the World Golf Award follows in the wake of a true “shower” of prizes for Portugal. Recently, for example Portugal became number three on Lonely Planets list of ten countries worldwide, travelers should visit. At the same time, at this year’s World Travel Awards, Portugal received no less than 37 awards – including the award as Europe’s leading destination, Europe’s leading beach destination (Algarve), Europe’s leading island destination (Madeira) and Europe’s leading cruise ship (Lisbon) destination.
